One of the most frequent and difficult problems in veterinary medicine is dealing with recurrent and/or chronic otitis externa. It is very often a nightmare to treat as there are many extenuating circumstances that account for this. Among these are food allergy, chronic allergies to pollen, etc., middle ear infection with or without concurrent eardrum rupture, hormonal imbalances, resistant organisms (either primary or secondary), nagging yeast inections, etc. These problems are often recurring or chronic. For years, I have taken a special interest in the care and treatment of ear disease in dogs and cats and ultimately realized that most of what I was able to provide for the pet was palliative and short lived. I have, over time, attended seminars, researched books and articles pertaining to the proper diagnostics, treatment and control of such patients. Recently, I made the decision that in order to treat my patients with chronic or recurring ear problems as they should be treated, I needed the most up to date equipment available. With the addition of this equipment (the MedRx Video Vetscope) we are now able to properly diagnose, flush and treat these ear problems in patients as we've never been able to do in the past.
